This unique 3" lockback pocket knife is made of fossilized Woolly Mammoth Tusk and features a 2 1/4" Damascus Steel Blade.

The material in this knife handle is 15,000 year old Ivory from the tusks of the Woolly Mammoth. The undersides of the Woolly Mammoth tusks often show wear, suggesting that they were used in scraping snow and ice off the ground cover vegetation during feeding. Woolly Mammoths also used their tusks for protection against predators, attraction during mating and as a display of dominance to other Woolly Mammoths. The longest recorded tusk was almost 16 feet long and weighed 208 lbs.

The blade is made of Damascus steel which is characterized by its strength, edge holding ability and dramatic appearance. The Damascus steel used in these knives comes from Japan and is 'Sanmai Damascus' or sandwich Damascus. There is a core of VG-10 'Super Stainless Steel' with 16 layers of SUS410 high carbon stainless steel on each side, then preseed between two steel plates with holes and ball bearings to produce the 'Raindrop Damascus' rust free blade with 33 layers of steel.
